For children, education is the key to their future. That is why Solidar Suisse promotes the education of children from the poorest families in the slums of Islamabad, while also ensuring their protection and health.
Child labor results from poverty
There are 12.5 million working children in Pakistan who are unable to exercise their basic rights to education and protection. Since many families live in poverty, they cannot afford to allow their own children to attend school. Therefore, the children often have to work as well so that the family does not go hungry. There is also a lack of school facilities and adequately trained teachers.
Education as the key to the future
Solidar Suisse is enabling the school education of 1000 children in the slums of Islamabad to date and is providing improved child protection. We support parents, teachers and administrators in order to also improve the health and hygiene situation of the children. This gives children, many of whom are already working at a young age, a perspective for a better future.
If the parents had decent wages, the children would not have to work.
