Understanding impact, learning together
Solidar Suisse aims to contribute to lasting change through its work. That is why we regularly assess the impact of our programmes, learn from experience and refine our approaches together with partner organisations. Impact studies and evaluations help us identify successes, limitations and unanswered questions—and use these insights to inform our future work.
Why measure impact?
Impact is not just about numbers. What also matters is whether people are better able to exercise their rights, whether their voices count in political decisions and whether changes last over time. Evaluations help us understand how our work contributes to these changes. They show which approaches work, where challenges remain and what we need to improve together with partner organisations.
How we connect impact and learning
For us, assessing impact means taking a close look, incorporating different perspectives and putting insights into practice.
Our impact studies
In collaboration with external experts and research partners, we regularly examine how our programmes contribute to lasting change. We publish the findings as impact studies.
Impact Study 2023: Participation and Having a Say
An external evaluation examined five Solidar projects in Bolivia, Mozambique and Burkina Faso. It shows how people are empowered to claim their rights, express their views freely and participate in decisions that affect their lives.
Learning is part of our responsibility
For us, accountability means more than sharing results openly. It also means taking criticism seriously, questioning assumptions and sharing insights. Impact studies are therefore not an endpoint. They help us make better decisions together with partner organisations and continue improving our work over the long term.
